I am in the basement right now, working (I work from home). Holly is next door, visiting our neighbor and drinking coffee. The house is very quiet. The nosiest thing is my tapping on the keyboard.
About ten minutes ago I heard a chair or something similar-sized move across the floor above me. It slid only a few inches then stopped. The dining room and the kitchen is above my head as I sit here in the basement. Both rooms have chairs. The kitchen has an island with some bar stools around it.
Jack, my biggest and oldest dog, was upstairs at the time. I heard him walk over to where the sound came from, and after a few seconds, I heard him walking awkwardly down the wooden steps to come and jon me.
When he came down, he stopped, and stared at a spot over at the far side of the basement. He stayed there for quite a while, then went over to that area to investigate. He wasn't staring at the floor, but at a spot about the same height as his head.
Goose bump city! I almost considered that it was a good time to take a break from work and go work out at the gym...

A female voice from upstairs
This just happened 15 minutes ago. Tropical Storm Hanna is rolling through Maryland now, so we are getting dumped on with rain. Holly and I were just drinking coffee on the porch, watching the rain come down, and the two youngest ones were down at the bottom of the hill, playing in the rain and in the puddles.
I stepped inside to check on something, and I heard a female voice saying something upstairs. At first I thought it was someone in the house - with 5 females in the house, there is always someone talking or making noise. But then I realized, I was the only one in the house!
I stopped in my tracks and listened to the voice, which only went on for a second or two longer, trying to understand what it was saying. But it was very muffled, and it was sing-songy, like it was singing a few lines to a song, or saying something soothing to someone else.
And then it was done. I went upstairs to see if any television sets were left on, but it was very quiet up there.

Night Recording Results from May 12, 2008
Date Recorded: May 12, 2008.
Anaylsis Started: 6/19/2008 11:29 am
Analysis Completed: 9/03/2008 8:49 am
Wow, it took almost three months to finish the analysis of this recording. The reason is because I took a break from the subject matter for the summer.
Results:
Clip #1, 1:26 am, 0m 26s
A series of two soft taps, then the clip ends with a very obnoxious bang.
Clip #2, 2:45 am, 0m 43s
What sounds like a door closing, then footsteps very faintly could be heard walking around. I think this is the double-doors to the laundry room on the main level closing.

Sound files moved to new host
I shut down my ccgworkshop.com domain server, and forgot that the night recording files were hosted there! Whoops! Everything is now moved over to my Comcast hosting account and things should be back to normal.
